In one of her wildly popular talks, ‘The Body Blueprint, How Our Pain Tells A Story’, Jodi reveals how pain is often a messenger. She reminds healthcare professionals, pain in not just physical. To truly heal we must look beyond the physical to the mental and emotional layers that could be impacting the perception of pain. Jodi delivered a TEDx talk for TEDxSquareMile – with other presenters in London England. The title, the Body Blueprint, How Your Pain May be Telling A Story.
However, this story begins when she opened a massage practice the Washington D.C. area. Her private practice grew into a busy clinic with 20 employees.
During that time, Jodi worked as the massage therapist for DC United, Major League Soccer as a part of the medical team, learning orthopedic sports massage and many physical therapy techniques. After soccer, Jodi worked with elite US Track & Field athletes. (Image: Alan Webb setting the American record running 1 mile 3:46) Her career allowed her to travel to do massage at many exciting venues such as the Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon and World Track & Field Championships in Helsinki, Finland and Osaka, Japan.
After selling her massage clinic, she focused on teaching in the Allied Health – Massage Therapy program at Northern VA Community College. Currently she teaches a weekly online National Exam (MBLEx) Prep Class to massage school graduates across the country. She practices massage part time and is licensed in New Hampshire, Virginia and Florida.
Jodi has been named Business Person of the Year by the Tysons Chamber of Commerce(Virginia), Chapter Meritorious by the Virginia Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association and she is proud of being voted Rotarian of the Year by the Rotary Club of Vienna VA.(2017)
Jodi enjoys tennis and is a retired amateur triathlete. She enjoys spending time in New Hampshire, Virginia and Florida.
