Can Our Body Change Our Mind?

Apparently so.
Amy Cuddy in her TED talk shares, “Our bodies change our minds, and our minds can change our behavior, and our behavior can change our outcomes.” Science has proven our posture impacts our feelings. Now wait a minute. Is this the old ‘fake it til you make it’ saying? No. But turns our you can fake it til you become it.

Have you heard of the power pose? Two minutes in this position can impact our body chemistry. Hands on hips, chest out, and feet slightly apart improves our communication and make us feel more confident. When is the last time you stood in this position? Wanna try it? It takes just 2:00 to change your vibration. Okay true, you may want power pose in the privacy of your own home or alone in the office. Otherwise your new nickname could be Wonder Woman or Superman. On the other hand, that could be cool…

Zodiac Sign of Cancer

Alright Wonder Woman (or Superman) as you read this, the calendar reminds us that we are in the zodiac sign of Cancer. If your birthday is between June 21 and July 22 did you know, you are a natural healer?
Some of you heal using your compassion and listening skills versus working as a doctor or a nurse. Some of you use your beautiful heart to be a mom or dad to animals, plants or those without a nurturing mother.

Those with a birthday in Cancer feel emotions.
It’s their superpower.

Cancer is a juicy water sign. Water represents our emotions. At this particular time of the year, we can all feel. And for those who aren’t used to feeling, it can be a lot. Even the introverted Cancer men and women are giggling right now saying, “See?! Try living with all this emotion 12 months out of the year!”

Take a deep breath

Feelings can sneak up on us. Consider it a blessing! One way to do determine if you are balanced with your feelings is to tune in to your chest. How do you feel right now? Do you feel light or heavy?  Out of the blue, the breath can become short and shallow, and we don’t even realize it.

Ahhhhh, I hear you. Did you just take a deep breath?
Yes. Breathe in.
Hold for 3 seconds.
Breathe out.

Welcome back to the present.

The power of breathing, intently

Tune in to your chest again. Do you feel it rising and falling? Do you feel your ribs expanding on the sides? This is the area of our body that connects our top half to our bottom half. It the transfer station for feelings.

Author, Eckhart Tolle teaches us that fear and worry are caused by thinking too much into the future. Guilt and sadness too much past. Your breath connects you to the present, and it is here where you find all your blessings.

If you are comfortable doing so, place your hands on your chest. Join me in saying thank you to this beautiful body. “Thank you for breathing without thinking. Thank you for feeling even though I may not understand. Thank you to my intuition for communicating with me all day, every day. Thank you for my health, my breath, and for this moment.” Enjoy this season of feeling. Strike a power pose and channel your inner super hero.

Namaste friends,
Jodi
