Who are you?

Are you an extrovert or an introvert?
Are you intuitive or is it more comfortable for you to be objective, believing mostly in what you can see, hear, touch, smell, taste?
Do you think your way through a situation or feel your way through a situation?

Do you draw your conclusions by judging the facts or by perceiving the nuances of the condition?

A personality test called Myers-Briggs developed these categories and questions to help us relate to one another. To help us realize we can be looking at exactly the same situation, but be seeing it very differently.

This image is called Rubin’s Goblet. It’s a picture of a lovely large white goblet or drinking vessel. To me, it could be a flower pot or a candle holder. Do you see something else? Do you see the goblet or do you see two profiles?
Can you see both?

I use this image to demonstrate that sometimes, there are two right answers. Sometimes we are both right. Neither answer is more right than the other.

When we make space for another point of view we can learn. In fact, Stephen Covey said, Seek first to understand, then be understood. Have you ever been misunderstood?

In about 30 days the the full moon symbolizes our intentions coming to fruition. What’s on your mind?

Hahahahhahah….I can just see you. Your tapping your temple, ‘Oh I don’t need to write anything down because I’ve got my goals all right here.’
Yes, you do. Until you don’t. Until it gets hectic. You’ve got your goals all sorted out til you work 50 hours one week and your too tired to think.

If it isn’t written down, it’s not a goal. It’s a wish.

Here’s a hack for writing down goals. (Hack is a slang word for a tool that solves a problem quickly and efficiently) When I know I need some time to think about my goals, I make an appointment with myself. I schedule 90 minutes of Think Time. It’s decadent. It’s delicious. I can think about whatever I want!

During Think Time, I can imagine what it feels like to hit my goal. A day in my life with the book published, the speaking calendar booked, the bank account full, the charities picked I donate to, the parties planned with friends and family…you get it. When I imagine the feeling of my life with my goals achieved, it feels good.

Three easy steps: 
Step one
 Get clear on my goals and write them down. Avoid overwhelm. 
Step two Make an appointment with myself to think. Imagine how it feels to have achieved the goal.
Step three Move my feet. Do what needs to be done to take just the first step toward my goal.
